DIZZY GEESE:

Deb puts her own spin on a block designed by quilt maker, Joan Streck and published in a book by Leisure Arts titled, Quick Quilts From Your Scrapbag. During the course, each student will assemble one block and work with the following techinques: 1)“Fast Flying Geese”, 2) “Attached Templates”. 3)freezer paper templates, and4) quick cut kites techniques Additionally students will be exposed to “Folded Corners” and a form of paper piecing for construction of the sashings and borders. Precutting assures each student should be able to construct one block in the time allotted. A class suitable for those with intermediate or above skills.

MIGRATING GEESE AND COBBLESTONES:

A wonderful new technique that gives a fantastic effect with minimal effort. This original design will sure to be a favorite as students learn how to simply and easily construct the two vertical rows - “Migrating Geese” and “Cobblestones”. Deb will instruct how to adjust the size of this pattern and how use it in other situations including bar quilts, sampler quilts and borders. A great new technique to add to every quilter’s bag of tricks. Suitable for andvanced beginners and beyond.

WATERCOLOR QUILTS:

Learn how to make those magnificent quilts that always steal the show. Deb takes some of the mystery and fear out of combining literally hundreds of fabrics together into one project (typically 200 or more fabrics in a wall quilt) Students will participate in a fabric exchange in order to compile a usable palette of fabrics and create individual, small scale, projects. This is a no sew class that focuses on design only. Students will need to bring a flexible design surface and a roll of masking tape in order to transport pieces from class to home studios. Suitable for all levels.   Example 1

FLETCHER FARM STARS:

A true charmer of a scrap quilt. You can make this project any size, but this downsized version is a show stopper. Students will learn a quick piecing triangle technique - “Triangles on a Roll” to speed the construction of the Friendship Star blocks and then we’ll cover how to add snowball corners using a tool called the “Angler”. Deb will share many hints and tips for success along the way. A class suitable for all levels.  Example 1

MARY’S TRIANGLES:

A versatile, simple little four patch unit sometimes called “shaded four patch” or “birds in the air”. can be used to create numerous designs. Deb teaches two different techniques for constructing the unit and then encourages each student to come up with their own unique settings and projects. The workshop can be done using fabric scraps or it can be done using a planned color arrangement as shown in the bright stars quilt. A great technique to add to your bag of tricks! Good for all levels. On The Design Board  Large View
